Organized by the URBACT National Point, PNU in Spain, and Manresa City Council, in collaboration with the International Relations Area of the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Global Goals for Cities Manresa is an in-person event, linked to the location of global agendas and, especially, the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in cities.
In the various conferences and workshops, experiences will be shared on how to draw up a Local Urban Agenda or transfer the Sustainable Development Goals to the municipalities. In 2015, the UN adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, an opportunity for countries and their societies to embark on a new path to improve the lives of all, leaving no one behind. The Agenda has 17 sustainable development objectives, which include everything from the elimination of poverty to the fight against climate change, education, women’s equality, the defense of the environment or the design of our cities .
URBACT is a European exchange and learning program that promotes sustainable and integrated urban development, encompassing 550 cities, 29 countries and 7000 active local agents.
The program is structured around an exhibition and debate block, with a multi-level perspective that includes the global, European, state, regional and local sphere with the following topics
- Methodologies and tools for the localization of global agendas and the SDGs.
- Public awareness and participation linked to the 2030 Agenda, the SDGs and their location.
